1 tbl. Olive oil
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1 small onion, chopped
1/2 lb. ground beef
1/2 lb. Italian sausage (out of casings)
3 28 oz. crushed tomatoes
1 1/2 tbl. tomato paste
1 tbl. chopped basil OR 1 tsp dried basil
1 tsp sugar
1 1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp. ground pepper
Heat oil. Cook garlic and onion until tender. 2-3 min. on Med heat.
Add meats and cook on Med-High until pink disappears. (8 min)
Add rest of the ingredients.
Bring to a boil on Low-Med heat.
Simmer for 1 hour, stirring often.
Add cooked meatballs, sausage and cook for another hour.
